Kenny Ray Horton: Music
Let Her Fly
(Kenny Ray Horton)

Written by Kenny Ray Horton
Having flown to Virginia Beach, VA on September 8th of 2001, September 11th hit that much harder for me. I heard the songs coming out on the radio form the artists sending their condolences in their own way. I guess you could say that this is my way. I just hoped that when the dust settled, everyone would remember that the flag is still flying and that there are people out there still making certain that she stays that way. God bless the ones who died that day and every day since, and may he bless us all.
VERSE 1
She's withstood 200 years of trials and toils
Watched the land she loves seperate like water and oil
She's been burned n walked on she's been raised up high
The sight of her has been known to make grown men cry
CHORUS
She's always tried and true
Our red, white, and blue
And I'd die if I had to
To let her fly
VERSE 2
She's laid to rest many a brave, brave man
And she's laid our claim to all of our war-won lands
And she stands half-mast when our brothers fall
Oh she represents the greatest of them all
BRIDGE
She stands up proudly for all those who've gone before
In war or in peace they'll be remembered forever more
She keeps them living right here in our hearts
VERSE 3
She flies today come rain or shine
And the freedom she stands for is yours and mine
So you can stand up proud and know that she will remain
And the men who have died they did not die in vain
