Kenny Ray Horton: Music
How Forever Ends
I was fortunate enough, while I loved in Nashville, to write with some very talented writers. This was one of those occasions that I tagged along and got a great writing experience and a Nashville education. Bobby Carmichael has written some great songs in his day, but it was his knowledge of the industry and his experiences that he shared with us that afternoon that I remember the most. My buddy, Tom Wurth, and I were pretty green into town and still had those stars in the eyes. Tom had landed a writing deal at Belden Enterprises and asked me to ride into town with him. When we stopped by Island Bound Music, he met up with Bobby and we ended up having a couple beers and writing this tune.
Verse 1
I happened one night Not too long ago I ran into an old flame Out drinkin alone Temptation took over And I just gave in That’s the beginning Of how forever ends Chorus
I promised her true love That we’d never part Then I took her for granted Til it broke her heart She said it was over Never be back again And that’s how Forever ends Verse 2
I sat there alone With her memory That’s all that’s left of What we used to be I found good-bye on the dresser And her ring on the floor This old house Ain’t her home anymore
